The Board of Directors is set to "approve" the updates to our Constitution and Bylaws at the upcoming Board of Directors meeting this weekend. The updates in question are from the resolutions passed during General Council in 2008. The Board of Directors does not have the authority to override the General Council's decision.
What they are approving is the actual updates showing the resolutions incorporated into the Constitution and Bylaws. If, for some reason, the updates don't accurately reflect the resolutions as passed, the Board can stop the updates from being published until corrections can be made.
Assuming they are approved, does it strike anyone else as odd that it takes this many months to process the updates? And how long will it take before they are available for the general membership to review? I've never even seen a public announcement of the resolutions that were passed at General Council.
We'll need to analyze the changes to see what they mean for us, the regular members of the union. It's obvious where some of the changes came from, and it isn't necessarily in our best interest.

Re: Updates from General Council 2008
The updates to the C&Bs did not come up at the March 14th Board of Directors Meeting. It does not seem feasible that this can be held off for another 2 months until the next Board meeting. I would hazard a guess that it was done off-line.
There is still no update on the Local 503 web site.

Re: Updates from General Council 2008
The updated copy of the C&Bs was finally posted to the web site in July 2009. It never came up at the May or July Board of Directors meetings.
So here we are, a full 10 months after General Council 2008 and the membership finally gets to see the results. The document shows January 2009. That's still 3-4 months after General Council before it was even put together. But worse is that it took another 6-7 months before it was finally posted!
You can find the latest version posted here.
