After a long time where I've woefully neglected my posting, I'm going to share a random thought I had last month.

This was right before the May primary election. Driving down the I-5 corridor, the various candidate signs were lining the sides of the freeway both northbound and southbound. Then, one day, out-of-the-blue, nestled in amongst the "Vote For ME" signs, there was a new addition. It read, "Cage Fight!"

Now, for all of you who didn't vote just because you hate kittens, shame on you!

I knew there wasn't much participation in the union voting. What I didn't realize was exactly how poor the participation really is! Seriously, it's bad! read more »

The holiday season is always a busy one. And for many of us, we have a furlough day this Friday. All of which adds up to not much time to get everything done that you want to do.

It's hard to believe that one year ago I made my very first blog entry. Ever. Anywhere.

And what a strange year it has been. We went into a major recession, which we still haven't climbed out of. We had the worst bargaining session that anyone I've spoken to seems to remember. (As of when I'm writing this, the bargaining is still on-going for different folks.) And, of course, this site went live. read more »

I had no idea what an impression I was making. This isn't the first time something like this has come up. But it certainly keeps growing.

I just found out that SEIU Local 503 staff have once again tried pumping someone I know for information about Eye On The 503. The story is that they're hearing from "people" that it's anti-union. No names mind you. And the staff haven't seen the site—or so they say. read more »

Why so shy?

Why are we downplaying the DAS Bargaining Conference? Yes, it's been 8 months of bargaining. Yes, it was very tough. So again I ask, why are we downplaying this very important next step in finalizing a contract for State agency workers?

There was a lot more hoopla last contract. I wasn't nearly as involved then, but I still remember hearing about the bargaining conference. I remember that I could have gone if I so chose. read more »
